Welcome to Cutting Edge Morelia!™ We are private hobby breeders of high quality captive bred reptiles, specialising in the Morelia complex. We also breed some other animals that take our interest, such as some spectacular geckos and beautiful monitors. We strive to be on the Cutting Edge™ of some of the most exciting and stunning carpet morphs in Australia, along with some of the most attractive traditional examples of each species that we work with.

Please enjoy your stay, have a browse around our site and checkout some of our collection, and breeding projects we are working on. Additional content and photos will be added as we further develop our site.

Don’t forget to check out our "Available" section as we will have new animals posted for sale on a regular basis. All animals posted for sale have been captive bred here at our facility from our own breeding stock, unless otherwise noted (which will be very rarely).

We take extreme pride in the animals that we produce, and will always and happily, continue to be a resource for our customers well after their initial purchase/s.

Thankyou, Brett Zaccar.

Rather than focusing our feature project on solely one specific bloodline, I have decided to make our "Featured Project" our main focus, which is of course... Reduced Pattern Morelia.

After speaking with a few of our customers over recent months, I have realised that our featured project is not one line of animals, but a specific goal for many of our different bloodlines and that is Reduced Pattern animals, or RP's. These animals are represented by several groups of Morelia pythons, all subspecies specific and in most cases locality specific as well.

Reduced patterns seem to be where things are at, not only in Australia, but around the world. Europe, the UK and of course the States, and our various lines of RP Carpets certainly fits the bill.

Our RP Carpets, or 'Aussie Jags' are animals which we are known and recognised for, all showing significantly reduced patterning and lush colouration. We take pride in these particular lines of animals, and amongst them are some of our favourite and most cherished animals.

There are several different bloodlines that contribute to this multi project reduced pattern focus, all are RP Carpets. Amongst them are RP Prossie's (Coastals), RP Jungles, RP Capey's and also RP Darwins. Go to our 'Projects' section to check them out, and you will quickly find a great variety of reduced pattern animals represented in several Morelia sub-species.

Our RP Carpets or Aussie Jags are pure sub-species and/or locality animals that have the majority of the aesthetic traits of the Jaguar carpet, and none of the down falls. With no neuro problems or fatal super gene, our RP Carpets are pure and locality specific productions, resulting from selective and line breeding animals to achieve the results we wanted.

2010 is here, and with it comes another year of exciting Cutting Edge Morelia projects!

This year we are again focusing strongly on Reduced Pattern Morelia, and will be producing and making limited numbers available of RP Coastals, RP Hypos, RP Jungles, RP Capey's and RP Darwins.

We are very happy to say that we will also be producing the very rare "Gammon Carpet". Animals which we now proudly are able to announce, that we have one of only 2 or 3 adult breeding pairs in Australia now in our collection. These are very unique locality specific animals, which genetic testing has shown to be the closest to M.imbricata, however there is a distinct possibility of these beautiful animals getting their own species classification at some point in the future.

Also this year we will be again producing Albino Darwins, but with specific selective projects being produced. Amongst these are Striped Lavender Albinos, Pastel phase, and High Gold/Yellows.

There are also some exciting Chondro projects coming this year with both locality form types, as well as some designer Chondros which really gets the heart racing. Of course, their cousins the Rough Scaled python or Carinata is also on our menu.

Other carpet projects include spectacular Classic Jungle pythons, ICE Jungles, Tiger Jungles, Hypomelanistic Carpets, Proserpine Coastals, Hypo Bredli and Gosford Diamonds.

Then there will be Pygmy pythons (perthensis) which we are expecting several clutches from, and are already close to having taken full orders for. Our colony of these incredible little critters now has a broad range of patterns and colours, including Auski locality semi patternless Reds, Speckled Sandy/Golden phase, and a red Patterned/Granite phase.

We also have and will be producing some of the most sought after, and rarest Death adder morph in Australia... The "Black Headed Pilbara" adder, originating from Pannawonica in Western Australia.

The various lovely knob-tailed geckos we work with, including Prickly knob-tails (asper), Centralian knob-tails (amyae), and also now Banded knob-tails (wheeleri). We are also producing two colour forms of Shingleback Lizards (Jet Blacks and Chocolate/Cream) and Alpine Blotched Blue-tongued Lizards.

At this stage we have decided to take a break from Aspidites and Antaresia (except pygmies), and we will most likely not be producing any Black headed pythons, Woma pythons or Stimson's this year. Of course plans can change, but it looks unlikely at this point in time.

I would like to thank all those people who have supported Cutting Edge Morelia during 2009. I also hope that along with us, those of you who have been able to get animals from some of our more special projects (as well as lovely classic types), are now enjoying the animals you have received, as much as we enjoyed producing them.

We sold out of a lot of our animals very quickly from last year, especially those from some of our limited number release special project animals. So those who may have missed out, don't be shy in sending us an inquiry on the animals that interest you, and maybe placing an order for this coming season, to ensure not missing out again this year.

Things only get better each year, and 2010 is going to be no exception. So anyone that is looking at getting any animals from Cutting Edge Morelia this year, can look forward to being able to have some awesome critters to add to their collections, to admire and enjoy!

We are now at the stage of releasing some of our holdbacks from last season to make some space for the incoming stock. Some of these animals are absolutely stunning and if you are after something advanced (yearling) then now is the time. Some animals are at very special prices, and others simply available where they were previously not.

If there is a particular line that is of interest to you, drop us an inquiry and we can let you know if they are on the cards for this year. We take orders for specific bloodlines, so get in and secure the animals you want to avoid disappointment come hatchie season! Some lines are sold out prior to the hatchies being offered publicly for sale.
